There are only two reasons to be a part of THE 23rd & 24th FACON EDUCATION FAIR
The International Exhibition on Higher Education, Training & Language Learning Opportunities

There are a few million young people (and the young-at-heart) in Malaysia hungry for training and education. Be there to recruit them.

School leavers – Huge and Growing Market

It’s for you to grab a piece of the pie! More than 450,000 Malaysian students finish their high school and pre-university studies each year.

It has been reported widely that 135,000 school leavers applied for 70,000 places in public universities in 2007, with 4,000 students waving straight As on their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM). SPM is the Malaysian high school leaving certificate, equivalent to the British General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) and O-Levels.

Competition is stiff, and many students will have to opt for private higher education institutions.

However, there are thousands of school leavers who opt for private education as their first choice, their reasons being preference for English as the medium of instruction, perceived higher quality, and preference for foreign degrees.

Some 150,000 new students go for private higher education in Malaysia annually, and there are several thousands who go abroad, or attend local twinning, or preparatory courses at local institutions first.

Malaysia is a fantastic market for higher education, training and language learning institutions.

Adult learners – Millions of Malaysians are hungry to learn.

Malaysia has a catchment of 10.408 million workers (Q4, 2006) who need and want to be retrained or re-educated regularly.

The workforce is increasingly aware of the need to continuously improve their technical knowledge and skills. Many rise up the corporate ladder but want formal qualifications to move higher, or to affirm their own abilities.

Many view language competency – in particular, English – as imperative to operate on a more competitive level, as businesses become more global. Language learning is a key area in education today, as can be seen in the sprouting of language centres.

Open and distance learning is fast catching on as well. The fact is millions of Malaysians are hungry for learning.

Malaysia has a Masterplan for Knowledge Economy, whereby human capital development is systematically planned, and life-long learning emphasised.

Facon Education Fair, as it is popularly known, is an established and highly respected education show in Malaysia. Leverage on its credibility to showcase your institution and to recruit more students.

The Facon Education Fair which features the most comprehensive range of study opportunities available in Malaysia and across the globe is the most popular education fair for tens of thousands of school leavers and young Malaysians each year.

At the Fair, dreams and hopes are shared, information is exchanged, counselling done, and for many institutions which prove to be the right match and which provide the right incentives, students sign up on the spot. At the very least, contacts are made for follow-ups.

The Fair attracts pro-active school leavers and young working adults -- the type who dare dream the best for themselves, the type who are likely to excel, and would do their institutions proud.

Parents love the Fair because it is a one-stop-centre to meet representatives from globally recognised institutions from Malaysian and foreign institutions, to shop and compare, and from there, to discern the best they can afford for their children.

Higher education is the biggest single gift most parents give their children. Therefore, parents are also selective in choosing the more effective education fairs to attend. They know they always make the right decision by choosing Facon Education Fair, with 17 years of experience in running education fairs (with 22 highly successful shows as track record).

Education Fund – Easily Available

The Malaysian Government supports education and learning in multiple ways. Up to the first quarter of 2007, the Malaysian National Higher Education Fund allocated RM19.06 billion as loans for 982,066 students.

The Government also allows partial withdrawals from the Employee Provident Fund to pay for higher education. To encourage continuous training of the workforce, employers can claim for employee training from the Human Resource Development Fund.

Several banks offer study loans which cover tuition fees and cost of living, for both local and overseas studies. Some corporations and non-profit organisations offer higher education loans and scholarships.

With a superb track record (22 highly successful shows) since its inception in 1990, Facon Education Fair has helped numerous institutions to promote their programmes and increase student intake. Each year without fail, the Fair attracts more than 40,000 visitors and has proven to be the most effective platform for institutions to conduct recruitment exercises. In March 2007 (the last show), more than 60,000 visited the Fair which showcased more than 400 participating and represented institutions from Malaysia and overseas.

The Fair has always been well supported by the Ministries of Education and Higher Education in recognition for its success and contribution to the education sector.

For higher education and training institutions, Facon Education Fair remains the most effective place to showcase your institution and courses, and to convince the best to join you. If you have been a regular exhibitor, you know what we mean!

Facon Education Fair’s renowned aggressive and effective publicity mechanism ensures that the Fairs are regularly featured in both the print media and radio, supplementing buntings, posters and direct mails to all potential visitors. This publicity reaches out to your target.
